Returning from Slovakia
So after spending 2 months in Slovakia working and training for the Koruna Slovenska running project, which unfortunately didn’t go fully as planned as Petr injured his knee and we had to cancel it, we are now back in Lyngen in Northern Norway, where we will spend the next few months working on several things while also running and training in the mountains as much as possible. Petr also needs to start healing and training his knee again, so these are the goals for the Arctic summer here up north.
Run to Lyngstuva
So after being here for about a week, we went to Lyngstuva, the northernmost point of the Lyngen Peninsula, a place we both love and enjoy very much. This was also my first proper run after being a bit sick for a little while due to too much air conditioning in Slovakia when it was almost 40 degrees. So it did feel quite heavy, I’m not gonna lie, for both of us. We definitely felt that the last couple of weeks of a lot of traveling and not too many trips had affected our cardio, but nothing we can’t fix during these summer weeks. The weather has not been the greatest, but there are still some weeks left of the midnight sun, and the forecast is looking to improve later, so we hope to get in some nice runs, hikes, and outdoor exploration.
We went all the way to the lighthouse and the cabin at the end of Lyngstuva, where we had a little pit stop. We were filming and trying out some new camera equipment before going down to the shore on the way back. We have invested in some new gear lately, which we hope will be very helpful tools going forward in creating good-quality videos and photos. There will also come a small video from this trip, which we filmed on the new Insta360 Luna camera. It has proven to be a great camera companion on trips like these due to its light weight and practical size, combined with pretty good quality.
Plans ahead
The hope going forward is that Petr’s knee will heal enough for him to hopefully run the Kungsleden Trail in Sweden towards the end of August. This was actually a part of the plan after the Koruna Slovenska project, but we had to cancel them both. However, this is an easier, but still just as beautiful, trail, which is quite doable, and we aim to do this in August. So while working on a paid project, along with other filming and creative work this summer, this is also a goal. But we will see how things are and how he will feel when the time gets closer.
